VANAPAMULA SEEDS, a 47 year old seed company was established in 1976 to provide high quality seeds to farming community. Subsequently it was strengthened year after year and developed into VANAPAMULA SEEDS PVT LTD during 2018. The company has Centralised Seed Licenses in the states of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana for quality seed production, marketing & distribution. The main objectives of the company has to develop open pollinated varieties & hybrids in field crops (cotton, chillies & pulses) and production, marketing & supply good quality seed to the farmers at affordable price. The company has 8.50 acres of land with irrigation facilities for R&D. Since 1976 the company has been doing several research activities on Collection of the Germplasm, Maintenance, Evaluation, Selection of elite genotypes, crossing programs for the development of better hybrids in field crops. Several varieties in Cotton (20 varieties & 6 hybrids), in Chillies (25 OPV’s), in Red gram (8 Varieties), in Black gram (5 Varieties) & in Green gram (5 Varieties) were developed. Which were gained very popular, possessed heavy demand and substitute for public varieties.
Vanapamula Seeds Pvt. Ltd., has very strong quality assurance division and experienced quality manager along with required equipments. Seed quality alone will contribute 15 – 20 % higher yield besides optimum inputs of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides & herbicides. Seed quality is adjudged by genetic purity, germination, physical purity, moisture content analysis. Germination test, vigour test, viability test, physical purity analysis and moisture content test are conducted from working samples in seed testing laboratory. The genetic purity is determined by conducting Grow Out Test (GOT) in field from working sample of the lot. Since 47 years, Vanapamula Seeds Pvt Ltd has analyzed 10,000 – 12,000 lots in different field crops
All laboratory tests results should be meet prescribed standards for declaring the lots as standard & substandard. Standard lots only released for marketing & sale to the farmers through proper seed distribution channels. Substandard lots were considered as spurious seed and not allowed into the market. To establish biotechnology facilities : Adequate place is ready. Once we get the sub- license agreement for BG II technology, we will place purchase order for necessary equipmentsand its establishment.
There is a need of the BG II gene for utilization & conversion of our existing material for the development of the BG II cotton hybrids for further expansion of the seed business activities. Based on R&D infrastructure, germplasm material strength, man power, production & marketing net work, Vanapamula Seeds is very much interested to collaborate with MMB sub-license agreement for transfer of BG II technology into Vanapamula cotton hybrids.
